The Heart of Campus Trail

Beit HaStudent (Student House)

The student house was designed in 1959 with money donated by the Technion Supporters Association in Britain, with the aim of serving as a central hub for student activity on campus. The students’ union offices began their activities on the Hadar campus, later moving to the Rifkin Dormitory, the Ullman Building, and finally moving here, to the Beit HaStudent building (later named after Zielony).

Since its establishment, the building has served as a central meeting point on campus, housing the Dean’s Office, a dining room, and a radio station. Its roof was a popular venue for cultural events, folk dancing, and even weddings overlooking Haifa Bay.

In 2002, Beit HaStudent was renovated with the support of Mr. Shalom Zielony. A fourth floor, the transparent hall, and learning spaces were added, along with solar panels on the new roof.

Today, the building is the heart of the Student Village, featuring study complexes, social event spaces, a cinema, a printing house, restaurants, various businesses, and even a hairdresser.
