The Dormitory Trail

Kfar HaMishtalmim – Starting Point
The Graduate Student Village on Campus was designed to offer high-quality housing solutions for graduate students and young faculty members. Catering to both young couples and families who center their lives around the campus, the village provides comfortable dormitories, scenic trails, and green spaces. This well-planned environment ensures convenient access to the Technion’s study, research, and recreational facilities, fostering a supportive and vibrant community.
Approximately 80 leading architects competed for the opportunity to design and construct the Village. Ultimately, architects Gaby Schwartz and Gidi Bar Orian were selected to bring their unique vision to life, creating a residential space distinct from conventional neighborhoods. The village was designed to balance privacy for its residents while fostering a strong sense of community, providing an environment that supports both individual and shared living experiences. The village consists of 213 housing units, connected by pedestrian-friendly internal pathways that are separate from campus roads, ensuring a safe and pleasant walking experience. Residents can enjoy playgrounds, scenic landscapes, and mature trees that were preserved through environmentally conscious construction. The Graduate Village extends toward the outskirts of the Ramat Alon neighborhood, seamlessly blending into the urban fabric of Haifa while maintaining its unique character.
