Neve Sha'anan Gate Bridge

Over 20,000 people visit the Technion every day. In order to regulate congestion at the entrances to the campus, several lanes for vehicles and public transportation were established at the two main entrance gates, Neve Sha’anan Gate and Nesher Gate, and a dedicated pedestrian bridge was established at Neve Sha’anan Gate, allowing them quick and safe entry to the campus.

The road that passes through Neve Sha’anan Gate was previously used for vehicles and pedestrians, but in order to maintain the safety of pedestrians, it was decided to build a dedicated bridge.

Designed by architect Gaby Schwartz, the bridge connects the Technion to the Ziv neighborhood and includes a dedicated bicycle lane. It is supported by individual metal legs to minimize obstruction to vehicular traffic. Constructed from uniquely shaped metal links, the bridge offers a striking view, and its illuminated structure at night makes it a recognizable local landmark, often referred to as the ‘scientific promenade’.

All that remains is to stand at the top of the bridge and take in the view.

Tip: Visit again at night to see the bridge illuminated from below.
